School Readiness Indicators Project

School Indicators

While families and early childhood experiences are essential in preparing children for success in school, schools themselves must be prepared to receive children and to create a climate for academic achievement. They must be clean, in good repair and properly equipped; they must have the capacity to ensure children in K-3 are in small classes with teachers who have an early childhood credential; and they must commit to the success of every teacher and every adult who interacts with children during the school day by providing accessible professional development.

The following are Ready School indicators that measure the capacity of Colorado’s schools to receive young children and provide them the highest quality learning environment. Click on the indicator to see the current data available, data source and a description of the indicator’s relevance to school success. For greater detail, see the referenced indicator number in the
Colorado’s School Readiness Indicators: Making Progress for Young Children under ”The Report."
